Brundaban man faces cop action for filming inside Puri temple | Bhubaneswar News
Puri: A 45-year-old man appeared before Puri police on Thursday following allegations of illegally filming inside the Jagannath Temple, where mobile phones and recording devices are strictly prohibited.
Ananta Goswami, a resident of Brundaban, was summoned after he allegedly posted videos of the temple’s sanctum sanctorum and interiors on social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook on Jan 18. The content, shared under the account name “Banke Bihariji Ananta”, went viral before being deleted, reaching thousands of viewers.
“Following the video’s circulation, we issued a notice directing him to appear before police. A case has been registered under the Temple Act, and his statement has been recorded,” said SP (Puri) Vinit Agrawal.
Police are investigating how Goswami managed to breach temple security and bring a mobile phone inside the premises. The incident has raised concerns about security measures at the historic temple, where electronic devices are banned to preserve its sanctity. TNN
