Bhubaneswar: State crime branch has taken over the investigation of the alleged attack on Dharmasala MLA Himanshu Sekhar Sahoo on Nov 20. In an office order, additional DGP (CID/crime branch), said the agency has taken full control of the investigation of the case under Jajpur Sadar police station limits. DSP Saroj Kanta Mahanta has been appointed to take up investigation of the case and any other case registered in connection with it, the order read.
The investigation will encompass three cases: attack on the MLA, roadblocks and siege of the police station. It will also investigate scuffle at Biraja haat. The police registered two cases in this connection and arrested 18 people. Bhaba Prasad Das, cousin of former BJD minister Pranab Prakash Das, was named as an accused along with Pranab’s brother, Balabhadra, and Jajpur Municipality vice-president, Santosh Malik.TNN
