BPUT: Bput To Set Up Five Centres Of Excellence | Bhubaneswar News

Bhubaneswar: Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) is gearing up to establish five centres of excellence (CoEs) dedicated to teaching, training, and internships for students. Official sources indicate that a COE focusing on emerging technology has already been set up at the varsity campus, with its inauguration to happen soon. “Students will learn about emerging technologies, including robotics, artificial intelligence and more at this CoE,” said BPUT vice-chancellor Amiya Kumar Rath.
He added that students will be able to complete internships at the CoE, gaining valuable knowledge before securing placements in govt or private companies. “We will establish two CoEs in civil engineering with the help of private companies. Similarly, we will set up two CoEs in computer science engineering,” said Rath.
Sources said that of the two CoEs in computer science engineering, one will focus on high-performance computing (HPC). HPC refers to the use of advanced computing resources to tackle complex problems in various fields, including science, engineering, and business.
Rath further said that a tinkering lab will also be set up at the university for students. According to him, the lab will enable students to conduct experiments related to their subjects. “These experiments will foster creative and critical thinking in students’ minds,” said Rath.
He added that the university will collaborate with industrial houses and IT companies to establish these CoEs.
