Bombay High Court Overturns Pune Police Chief’s Decision to Revoke Arms License for Manorama Khedkar | Mumbai News – Times of India
Mumbai: The Bombay high court last week quashed and set aside the Pune police commissioner‘s order that cancelled the arms licence of the mother of former IAS probationer Puja Khedkar.
Justice Revati Mohite Dere and Justice Prithviraj Chavan on Nov 27 remitted the matter back to the commissioner of police of Pune for “fresh consideration”, stating there was nothing to show notice was duly served on Manorama Khedkar as mandated by law.
On July 18, Manorama Khedkar was arrested after a video went viral showing her brandishing a gun during an argument over a land dispute.
She remained in Yerwada jail until Aug 2, after which she was granted bail. On July 23, the commissioner of police of Pune issued a notice for cancellation of Khedkar’s arms licence and posted the hearing on Aug 2.
The judges noted that Khedkar was in custody and “could not have appeared before the authority”.
