Keonjhar: Mayurbhanj police on Monday recovered the body of a 20-year-old man who was washed away while bathing in a pit at Bhimkund along the Keonjhar-Mayurbhanj border on Sunday. The deceased was identified as Biswajit Das of Balikuda village in Jagatsinghpur district.
According to reports, Biswajit, who worked at an automobile service centre in Bhubaneswar, came to Bhimkund for a picnic with office staff on Republic Day. Cooking for the feast was taking place on the banks of the Baitarani river at Bhimkund, when Biswajit was washed away while bathing in a pit at the small kund (gorge).
After getting information, the fire service team from Thakurmunda reached the spot and launched a search operation, but no trace of Biswajit was found until evening. On Monday morning, the body was recovered from the gorge after the search operation was started.
According to sources, Biswajit was a diploma student. Police said his body was handed over to family members after postmortem.
