Rourkela: Body of a local businessman was found on the railway tracks behind Raghunathpalli police station Sunday night. The deceased was identified as Surjit Singh (62). Police suspect foul play in his death.
Singh, of Civil township, had left his in his SUV on Sunday evening. Later that night, his family was informed he was lying on the tracks. Family members rushed Singh, who was critically injured, to Rourkela Govt Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. Govt Railway Police (GRP) was alerted about the incident on Monday, following which they took the body and initiated an investigation.
“We have registered a case of unnatural death and investigation is underway,” said Reshma Ekka, inspector in-charge, GRP Rourkela. “The post-mortem report will reveal the cause of death,” she added. The body was kept in the morgue until Tuesday when the post-mortem was conducted before it was handed over to the family members.
