Berhampur: Police on Thursday found the bodies of two married lovers, each having three children, hanging from the branch of a tree in the hill near Alarigarh under Ganjam district’s Berhampur Sadar police station limits.
The deceased were identified as Rajendra Sahu (32), father of three children and Sumitra Sahu (30), wife of Sibaram Sahu of Patapur and a mother of three children. The duo was missing for five days. Patapur police registered two separate missing cases after their family members lodged FIRs on December 21 and 22, sources said.
Locals reported to the police after they found them hanging in the jungle on Thursday. Police reached the spot, recovered their bodies and sent them for post-mortem at MKCG Medical College here. Police also found some pesticides, rope and a knife near the spot.
Police suspected they might have died by suicide by hanging. The exact cause for this incident is not ascertained. Preliminary inquiry revealed they had affairs for the last few years, even after their marriage. They went missing from their houses on December 21.
