BMC to take up sanitation work beyond city limits | Bhubaneswar News
Bhubaneswar: City mayor Sulochana Das on Friday said sanitation work will be taken up beyond the capital’s limits as delegates arriving for the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas will visit several spots.
Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has undertaken massive cleanliness and activation drives at several places to enliven the cityscape for the Odia diaspora attending the event.
The civic body has identified a 120-km long stretch for landscaping, beautification, plantation, road development, laying of paver blocks, creating more beautiful footpaths, installing decorative lights and plants, and adorning the walls of flyovers along the national highway, BMC officials said.
Suvendu Sahu, BMC additional commissioner, said that through a comprehensive plan, the 120-km stretch will be transformed into aesthetically pleasing hangout zones. “We completed the survey and identified the roads. All the makeover work will be over before the event,” he added.
The project aims to enhance the aesthetic appeal and functionality of the stretch, providing a more pleasant experience for commuters, diaspora, other visitors, travellers and residents.
