BMC to regulate parking on Raj Mahal to Sishu Bhawan stretch | Bhubaneswar News
Bhubaneswar: Haphazard parking between Raj Mahal Square and Sishu Bhawan Square is likely to be over soon with the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) deciding to regulate parking services on the arterial stretch with the help of a parking operator.“We are committed to improving the civic services for the people of Bhubaneswar and regulating parking services is one of our primary focuses. The stretch between Raj Mahal and Sishu Bhawan has already been allotted to a parking operator,” city mayor Sulochana Das said.Sources said that the 1.5km-long stretch has over 23,000sqft of parking space.Das added,”We are identifying places where parking issues exist and are also encouraging shops and other outlets like restaurants to create their own parking spaces,” she said. “There is enough space on both sides of the stretch for parking. In the absence of regulation, the vehicles continue to be parked haphazardly, causing congestion in the area and sometimes traffic snarl as well,” Rajesh Malhotra, who owns a shop on the stretch, said.
