Mumbai: BMC has decided to fast-track the process of digitising its hospital network. A health management information system (HMIS) will link all hospitals and dispensaries giving a patient’s medical history in one click across the network.
HMIS has been implemented in some of the bigger hospitals, but linking the entire system will be done in four phases, said a release.
Additional municipal commissioner Abhijeet Bangar said after a patient reaches a hospital, the process of registering, consulting a doctor, conducting various tests and then providing medicines through the pharmacy will be done through HMIS. This system will also be used to refer a patient to another hospital. This entire process will be paperless. HMIS will also allow the patient to take a doctor’s appointment in the future. BMC plans to use it for developing a tele-consultation programme as well. tnn
