BJP’s self-goals will benefit BJD, says V K Pandian | Bhubaneswar News

BHUBANESWAR: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik’s trusted aide V K Pandian on Tuesday said he is not troubled by personal attacks from the BJP and highlighted nine self-goals scored by the saffron party, including dragging Lord Jagannath into the political discourse, that he said only worked to BJD’s advantage.
Responding to Union home minister Amit Shah’s criticism of him and the chief minister, Pandian told journalists here, “We welcome leaders from outside to Odisha.I am fine and happy with their personal criticism of me. But they are using offensive language against Naveen babu, who is the most popular chief minister in the country.”
BJP will scrap Mission Shakti, BSKY: Pandian
Pandian added, “When they cross the limit and abuse the most popular CM, the people of Odisha take it to their hearts. It is going to help the BJD.” The bureaucrat-turnedpolitician also claimed the BJD has gained from BJP’s self-goals.
“Their first selfgoal is dragging Lord Mahaprabhu Jagannath and Shri Mandir into the political discourse. People of Odisha don’t like this approach,” Pandian said. The BJP’s second and third goals would be to scrap Mission Shakti and Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) if they come to power in Odisha, he said, adding, “Their fourth goal is to close down Naveen babu’s transformational activities introduced in educational institutions. This apart, there is an apprehension that the BJP will also stop giving scholarships to students.”
BJP’s plans to discontinue special development councils, disturb the state’s communal harmony and extort money from small businessmen are their other selfgoals, Pandian pointed out. The BJD leader described BJP’s ‘Subhadra Yojana’, under which the saffron party promised to give Rs 50,000 to each woman, as another poll gimmick. “If each woman in Odisha gets Rs 50,000, the total amount required will be Rs 1 lakh core. This is another ‘jumla’ of the BJP after the false assurance of giving Rs 15 lakh to each family that it had made in the past,” Pandian said.
