BJP’s mission incomplete in Bihar: Deputy CM Sinha | Patna News – Times of India

Patna: Amid assertions that the NDA would fight the next assembly elections under the leadership of chief minister Nitish Kumar, his deputy from the BJP camp, Vijay Kumar Sinha sparked a row on Wednesday by stating that only formation of the party’s own govt in the state will be a “true homage” to former PM late Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
However, later taking to the social media, he said Nitish, who was among the most favourites of Vajpayee, was sent to Bihar to establish good governance.
Nitish’s party JD(U) said the remark was made to boost the morale of the party workers, even as the opposition termed it the party’s “hidden agenda”.
Addressing a function organised in the state capital to mark Vajpayee’s birth anniversary, Sinha said the BJP’s “mission is incomplete” in Bihar.
“Mission adhura hai (Our mission is incomplete) … Only by forming BJP’s own govt in Bihar, we will be able to pay true tribute to Vajpayee ji,” Sinha said, adding they have to create a new Bihar. “We are waiting for the day when migration stops and outsiders start visiting the state.”
Sinha later took to social media, saying Nitish was among the most favourites of Vajpayee. “…he was sent to Bihar to establish good governance,” Sinha posted on his official X handle.
“Between 2005 and 2010, Bihar was freed from ‘Jungle Raj’. Though there were intermittent attempts by those from the ‘Jungle Raj’ to create chaos, the NDA government brought good governance,” Sinha added.
The JD(U) said Sinha’s remark was apparently aimed at boosting the morale of the party workers. “Atal ji, who was the biggest symbol of coalition dharma, loved Nitish ji very much, and Sinha’s remarks were aimed at boosting his party workers’ morale,” JD(U) spokesperson Neeraj Kumar said, adding there are no differences in the NDA over the leadership issue. “The 2025 assembly polls will be fought under the leadership of Nitish,” he said.
The RJD, however, accused the BJP of trying to insult Nitish, alleging the saffron camp was not following the coalition dharma as propounded by Late Vajpayee. “One deputy CM from the BJP camp says the NDA will fight under Nitish, but another declares to form its own govt in the state. This highlights the hidden agenda of the BJP,” RJD spokesperson Shakti Singh Yadav said.
