BJP Worker: Slain BJP worker’s family gets invite | Bhubaneswar News



Berhampur: The state BJP has invited the family of Dillip Pahan, a party worker in Ganjam district who was killed in pre-poll violence on May 15, to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the first BJP govt in the state.
Dillip was killed and his younger brother Jitendra sustained injuries in a clash between BJP and BJD supporters in Srikrushnasaranapur village under Khallikote police station limits over putting up posters of a candidate ahead of elections in the area on May 20.The village falls under Khallikote assembly segment, a part of Aska Lok Sabha constituency.
“The party’s state unit has decided to extend a special invite to the families of those who were victims of violence during the recently concluded elections to the swearing-in ceremony and the family of Dillip Pahan is one of them,” Purna Chandra Sethy, the newly elected BJP MLA in Khallikote assembly segment, said. “I have already conveyed the party’s decision to Dillip’s family members and requested them to attend the historic event,” Sethy added.
Dillip’s 55-year-old father Ram Chandra Pahan said he, along with some party supporters in the village, will attend the ceremony. “Dillip’s wife and son will not be able to attend since they are unwell,” Ram added. Earlier, the BJP had provided Rs 10 lakh to the family on the 12th day of Dillip’s death.
