BJP Team Invites Naveen: BJP team invites Naveen to ceremony | Bhubaneswar News
Bhubaneswar: A team of BJP members led by state unit chief Manmohan Samal on Tuesday went to the residence of outgoing chief minister Naveen Patnaik to invite him to the swearing-in ceremony of new CM Mohan Majhi on Wednesday.
The BJP delegation said Naveen has assured to attend the ceremony at Janata Maidan. Brajarajnagar MLA Suresh Pujari and ex-MP (Kalahandi) Basanta Panda — both former state BJP presidents — accompanied Samal.
“We have invited the outgoing chief minister and he happily accepted our invitation and assured to join us.We will also invite chiefs of other opposition parties and leaders. Odisha-cadre IAS officers, who are posted in Delhi, have been invited apart from functionaries of various corporate houses and heads of PSUs,” Samal told the media after meeting Naveen.
The BJP’s gesture to invite Naveen by going to his residence reflects the camaraderie between members of both parties despite a fierce battle in the run-up to elections, with the outgoing CM on Monday congratulating Dharmendra Pradhan, Jual Oram and Ashwini Vaishnaw on being sworn in as cabinet ministers.
“Congratulate Members of Parliament from #Odisha Shri@dpradhanbjp Shri@JualOram and Shri@AshwiniVaishnaw, on being sworn-in as ministers in the Union Cabinet. Wish you great success in your respective ministries for the nation and specifically for the people of #Odisha,” Naveen wrote on ‘X’.
Minutes later, Pradhan thanked Naveen calling him a statesman.
“Thank you for the good wishes Shri@Naveen_Odisha ji. Words of encouragement from a statesman like you means a lot. We are steadfast in our commitment to fulfil aspirations, take forward the growth trajectory as well as realise the goal of Viksit Odisha and Viksit Bharat,” Pradhan wrote.
Earlier in the day, a BJP team led by deputy CM-designate and Nimapara MLA Pravati Parida visited the Jagannath Temple in Puri to ceremonially invite Lord Jagannath to the oath-taking ceremony.
