Bhubaneswar: BJP workers, led by state party president Manmohan Samal, staged a dharna near Power House Square here on Friday demanding action against leader of opposition Rahul Gandhi in connection with the scuffle between opposition and NDA parliamentarians on Thursday. Later, they submitted a memorandum to the governor addressed to the President.
“BJP leader and Balasore MP Pratap Sarangi and Farrukhabad MP Mukesh Rajput were allegedly attacked and injured by Rahul in front of Parliament. This has tarnished the image of India across the world,” said Samal.
He said the behaviour displayed by Rahul in Parliament on Thursday was nothing short of hooliganism and deserves widespread condemnation. “Odisha MP Sarangi is injured and receiving treatment in a hospital in New Delhi,” he added.
He said the incident raises concerns about the safety of elected representatives. “Attack on an Odisha MP deeply hurts the sentiments of Odias. Odisha will never tolerate such disrespect. Actions and rhetoric of the Congress reflect a history of divisive and violent politics,” he added.
