BJP MLA sent to jail in 2019 assault case | Patna News – Times of India

Patna/Darbhanga: Alinagar (Darbhanga) BJP MLA Mishri Lal Yadav was sent to judicial custody on Thursday. The MLA, along with others, is an accused in a case of assault lodged in 2019.Additional district and sessions judge III, who is the special judge of the MP/MLA court, dismissed the criminal appeal case and forwarded the accused MLA and Suresh Yadav to judicial custody.The next date for hearing to decide the quantum of punishment in the case is Friday, said a court official.The court of special judge Karunanidhi Prasad Arya, on Feb 21, 2025 had convicted Mishri Lal and Suresh under Section 323 (assault) of the IPC and sentenced them to three months’ imprisonment with a fine of Rs 500.The case is related to an FIR lodged in 2019 against four people, including the MLA on Jan 29, 2019 at Samaila village under Rayam police station area. One Umesh Mishra accused them of assaulting him with an intention to kill and snatching money while he was on a morning walk. He was bleeding profusely from his head and went to Keopti PHC from where Umesh was referred to Darbhanga Medical College & Hospital (DMCH).The MLA and Suresh were on bail since then and made an appeal against their conviction a few days ago.
