BJP MLA Muniratna Naidu Faces CID Charges for Casteist Abuse and Threats | Bengaluru News

Bengaluru: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) police, in the charge sheet submitted to the court, charged R R Nagar MLA (BJP) and former minister Muniratna Naidu with hurling casteist abuse against an ex-corporator and issuing dire threats. The voice samples of the MLA have matched with those in the audio tapes.
Ex-corporator Velunayakar M filed a complaint against Naidu in Sept with Vyalikaval police. Around the same time, a BBMP contractor also filed a corruption case against Naidu.
A week later, a 40-year-old woman filed a complaint with Kaggalipura police in Ramanagara district, accusing Naidu of raping her for around two years and accusing six of his associates of using her for honey-traps by blackmailing her with alleged obscene videos. Transferring the three cases to CID, the state govt formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT).
The SIT has submitted a 590-page charge sheet in connection to Velunayakar’s case. “There are statements from 53 witnesses and three eyewitnesses have made voluntary statements before the court. In all, 157 documents, including voice samples of the accused, have been attached with the charge sheet filed with the special court for elected representatives,” a press note from CID read.
It further said: “Forensic reports on the voice samples confirm that it was Naidu and therefore, it is established that accused hurled casteist abuse and threats.”
