BJP min harassed woman, sent her inappropriate pics: Oppn | Mumbai News – The Times of India

Mumbai: A day after Dhananjay Munde’s resignation as minister, the opposition on Wednesday sought the resignation of BJP minister Jaykumar Gore over allegations that he had harassed a woman and allegedly sent her inappropriate photos. Though the matter relates to the year 2017, Congress MLA Vijay Wadettiwar alleged that the minister had now threatened the woman again. He did not name anyone while making the allegations but demanded that the minister be sacked from the cabinet.
Wadettiwar alleged that the minister had apologised in court over the issue but was now harassing the woman after entering the cabinet. The Shiv Sena (UBT) named Gore and said such ministers must be removed from the cabinet. Its MP Sanjay Raut said, “Information has come to light about how this minister has tortured and molested a woman. That helpless woman will sit on a hunger strike in front of the Vidhan Bhavan in the next few days.”
Gore, for his part, said the court had already acquitted him. “This case was filed in 2017 and then the case was tried. The court acquitted me. This is an old case of 2017, and the court order came in 2019. There is democracy, and the court gave an order six years ago. The issue is being raked up again. Political netas must exercise restraint. There is low-level politics by the opposition. All those who have made allegations against me, I will move a breach of privilege (motion) against them and also file defamation cases against them,” he said.
“The police can investigate the complaints and take action. Those who are spreading lies must also be booked. I did not send any photos to anyone and the court acquitted me,” Gore said.
Raut said, “CM Devendra Fadnavis should check all these ‘gems’ at once. There are perverted ministers like Jaykumar Gore in the state cabinet. Some evidence has come to light. This issue will have to be raised in the legislative assembly. Such ministers should be kicked out… If these ministers are going to sit on your lap, then the question is, with what will Devendra Fadnavis speak against atrocities on women?”
BJP minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule said that he will seek information on the issue and then speak about it. BJP’s Gore is minister for rural development and panchayati raj.
On Tuesday, NCP minister Dhananjay Munde resigned as a member of the state cabinet after allegations of his links with the prime accused in the killing of the Massajog sarpanch.
