BJD Office Land: Government to Investigate Alleged Irregularities in BJD Office Land | Bhubaneswar News

Govt to probe ‘irregularities’ in BJD office land; party refutes charges

Bhubaneswar: State govt on Saturday announced a comprehensive investigation will be initiated into the alleged irregularities in the construction of Sankha Bhawan, the BJD headquarters in Bhubaneswar.
Revenue minister Suresh Pujari said the alleged illegal diversion of a road into homestead land for constructing the BJD office will be thoroughly scrutinised, and appropriate action will be taken against individuals responsible if the allegations are substantiated.“There will be investigations into the irregularities of the previous govt, including construction of Sankha Bhawan, which surfaced recently. Action will be taken if there is revenue or any other loss incurred due to the activities of the previous govt,” Pujari told media persons.
Sources said one of the four plots, which constitute 1.183 acres of land acquired for the construction of Sankha Bhawan, was originally designated for building a road in Ganga Nagar. However, it is alleged the plot was converted to homestead land.
Sources said BJD acquired the land at the prime location for just Rs 12.38 crore, but the original price even if benchmark valuation of that time is followed, would cross Rs 100 crore.
BJD refuted any allegations of wrongdoing and said the allotment was approved by the same high-powered committee that cleared land for the BJP headquarters in Kharavela Nagar.
