BJD, BJP marriage has ended in divorce : Kharge | Bhubaneswar News

BHUBANESWAR: Hitting out at BJP and BJD in the last leg of rallies, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday said the BJP-BJD marriage has ended in a divorce. “Both the BJD and BJP were together. They supported each other on many issues. The same BJP leaders, who used to speak good about Naveen, are now mocking his health and age,” Kharge said in Balasore and Bhadrak Lok Sabha constituencies in the state on Wednesday.
Kharge wished Naveen a long life and advised him not to trust Modi anymore. “Age has nothing to do with someone’s performance and commitment to work. Naveen babu, app 100 saal jiyo, maat ye kharab logon (BJP) ke saath mat raho (may you live to be 100 years, but do not stay in the bad company of the BJP). You (Naveen) tried to taste venom (BJP),” Kharge said.
Kharge criticized Modi, alleging that the PM sought to be worshipped like a god. Kharge remarked that BJP supporters chanted Modi’s name more fervently than that of any deity, while Modi himself mentioned the Congress more frequently than any divine entity, by hurling abuses at the opposition party every day.
“Unke log (BJP) bhagwan ka naam kam lete hain, aur Modi ka naam jyada lete hain. Modi bhagwan ka naam kam leta hai, aur Congress ka naam jyada leta hai,” Kharge said at the Balasore election rally by raising the recent comment of BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra on Lord Jagannath.
Patra recently told a channel that Modi’s bhakt (devotee) is Lord Jagannath, triggering nationwide backlash, prompting him to apologize for what he claimed was a slip of tongue.
Modi’s factory of lies will not work: Kharge
Kharge said, “BJP people are trying to portray Modi as a god and want to see him in Lord Vishnu’s 11th avatar. But this will not happen. People of the country will not give BJP a mandate. INDIA bloc will form the govt at the Centre.”
PM Narendra Modi was addressing a rally at Baripada in Mayurbhanj district at the same time.
Kharge blamed Modi for the abnormal rise in the prices of petrol, diesel, LPG gas, fertilizer, essential commodities and failing to address unemployment situation in the country. “Modi made many tall promises in the last 10 years and tried to act like Satya Harischandra. But his factory of lies will not work,” Kharge said.
