Bikers open fire outside bldr’s home in Ambernath – The Times of India

Thane: In the fourth case of firing in Mumbai Metropolitan Region in as many months, two bikers fired two rounds outside a builder’s bungalow in Ambernath in broad daylight Monday and fled. The incident, which has raised security concerns among citizens, occurred near Hutatma Chowk in Ambernath East around 2pm outside Sitai Sadan bungalow of builder Vishwanath Panvelkar.
It may be recalled that last week, a Navi Mumbai builder was shot at by two bikers in Chembur. On Feb 13, one person was detained in a case of firing at a construction site in Airoli. On Jan 3, the pillion rider on a bike fired six rounds at APMC garbage contractor Rajaram Toke in Sanpada.
In Monday’s case, a team from local Shivaji Nagar police station and Thane police, including DCP Sachin Gore, seized the CCTV footage, which shows the accused. DCP Zone 4 Sachin Gore said Panvelkar’s statement was recorded, in which he denied threats or enmity. — Pradeep Gupta & George Mendonca
