Biker dies, wife, son seriously hurt after collision with car at Chembur

Mumbai: A 44-year-old man died while his wife and their minor son were seriously injured when a speeding car collided with their bike on Sion Trombay Road at Chembur on Friday afternoon.
The deceased is identified as Shakeel Shaikh. His wife, Muskan (36), and their son, Sharif Shaikh (10), were riding pillion.

Chembur police have registered an offence against the motorist, identified as businessman Gurvinder Singh Surjit Saini, a resident of Chembur, under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections for causing death due to negligence and rash driving, and under the Motor Vehicle Act.
Police said Saini was arrested and released on bail. Police collected his blood samples for an alcohol test, and reports are awaited.
Police said the accident took place on Friday at 1pm when Shakeel, who was into garments trading, was heading towards Dadar market to buy a dress material along with his wife and son. The car hit Shaikh’s bike from behind. It skidded, and all three fell.
Saini, with the help of the locals, immediately rushed the three to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared Shakeel dead on arrival, while Muskan and Sharif were admitted and being treated for their injuries.
The accident took place just a few metres after the traffic signal at Triangle Junction, where two roads intersect on Sion Trombay Road. Saini told the police that Shaikh broke the red signal and sped, leading to the collision.
