MADHEPURA: A wanted criminal, carrying a bounty of Rs 3 lakh, was shot dead in an encounter with Bihar Special Task Force (STF) at Sinduriatola village under Behariganj police station area of Madhepura district on Friday.
According to Madhepura SP Sandeep Singh, acting on a tip-off that Pramod Yadav and his gang members were taking shelter at a hideout in the village, the STF surrounded area and asked him to surrender.But, criminals opened fire at the police forces. In retaliation, the police also fired in which the criminal was shot dead. However, some criminals, who also sustained bullet injuries, managed to flee the spot. “We are conducting raids to nab them,” the SP added.
Udakishungaj SDPO Avinash Kumar along with subordinate police officers and additional police force rushed to the spot, and they were camping there till the evening. Pramod had many criminal cases, including robbery, murder and attack on police, registered against him in Madhepura, Purnia and other districts, he added.
