Bihar Revenue Employee Jaspal Kumar Arrested for Rs 20,000 Bribery in Muzaffarpur | Patna News – Times of India

Patna: The Special Vigilance Unit (SVU) of Bihar Police on Tuesday caught a revenue employee, Jaspal Kumar, red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 to settle a land mutation case in Muzaffarpur district.
Three separate teams also conducted raids at the zonal office of Kurhani block, where the accused was posted, his residence as well as circle officer Anil Kumar Santoshi’s house, during which several documents were recovered.
The SVU started the investigation following a complaint by one Naveen Kumar Chaudhary, a resident of Mahanat village, against Kurhani circle officer Anil Kumar Santoshi, and two revenue employees, including Kumar.
He had applied for the mutation of his land in November. He said in his complaint that Kumar, a revenue employee of Amarakh panchayat, was demanding money from him in lieu of doing the work.
Based on the complaint received on November 25, inspector Sonu Kumar of the SVU verified the allegations, following which the team laid a trap and apprehended the accused. He will be produced in the court of the Special Judge, Vigilance, in Patna on December 4.
“During the investigation, the team confirmed the corruption charges against Santoshi, while nothing was found against the other accused in the FIR. Based on the input, a team also raided the CO’s house and seized several property papers and bank account details,” an officer said, adding Santoshi also owns a three-storey house in Patna’s Tej Pratap Nagar near Bypass Road. “The house under construction has 10 flats.”
During the raid in Muzaffarpur, however, a large number of local people reached near the CO’s house and protested against the action. They also attacked the reporters, covering the incident.
The officials said during the search of the CO’s office as well, the raid team had to face opposition from anti-social elements. “It is worth mentioning that corruption is widespread in the circle office due to the connivance of local brokers and employees working in the block.”
