Police exam: 12 caught using unfair means, four arrested

Patna: Altogether 12 people were caught using unfair means on the second day of the Bihar police constable recruitment exam on Sunday. Among them, four were arrested and FIRs registered against three.
The Bihar Police headquarters issued a statement saying, “Two people were arrested from the exam centres in Begusarai district for solving the question paper on behalf of the candidates.Police also nabbed one candidate each from the exam centres in Kaimur and Gopalganj for their involvement in malpractices.”
Complaints were registered against two candidates who allegedly tried to flee with the carbon copy of the OMR sheet in Madhepura district, while one person was booked in Nalanda district. Five candidates, including four in Gopalganj and one in Nalanda, were expelled for using unfair means and cheating.
Jitendra Kumar, chairman of the Central Selection Board of Constables (CSBC), said, “The examination was conducted peacefully and without any unfair practices or impersonation. A total of 2,97,915 candidates were registered for the written examination, which was conducted in a single shift from 12 noon to 2pm at 545 examination centres in the state. A total of 2,42,998 candidates downloaded the e-admit card. According to the data available so far, the attendance of the candidates was approximately 65%.”
Extensive security arrangements were made under the leadership of district magistrates and superintendents of police. Strict pre-entry checking and frisking of candidates were executed at the exam centres. Biometric methods were used for thumb impressions, photography and videography. The Board also monitored the exam through live streaming of CCTV from a command and control centre set up in Patna. All the examination centres were covered by jammers.
The Board is conducting the recruitment exam for 21,391 constable posts in Bihar Police, Bihar Special Armed Police and other units.
