Patna: Urban development and housing minister Nitin Nabin said on Friday that sustainable development in the state capital will happen only if its area is expanded in a planned manner in satellite cities. He was speaking as the chief guest at a workshop titled “Urban development with emphasis on solid waste management: The case of Patna”, organised by ADRI’s Centre for Studies on Environment and Climate (CSEC).
The workshop was chaired by Ajit Sinha, director, ADRI, and attended by experts on sustainable development and waste management from all over the country.
The minister said that the satellite cities would come up around the Ring Road and will be served by the Patna metro rail, whose first phase will become operational from August 15 next year.
