Patna: The state cabinet on Friday approved a govt proposal to provide safe drinking water to residents of Aurangabad, Dehri and Sasaram by drawing surface water from the Sone river. The cabinet also cleared the sports department’s proposal to create 382 new posts, including 301 for the state and district units of the State Sports Authority (SSA) and 81 for the State Sports Academy in Rajgir, Nalanda, where an international cricket stadium is being constructed.
The cabinet also approved the establishment of Vikramshila University, the third central university in the state, following Gaya and Motihari. This project will require 205 acres near the ruins of the ancient Vikramshila University, with Rs 87 crore sanctioned for development.

Cabinet secretariat department additional chief secretary S Siddharth announced the release of Rs 1,347 crore to install machinery and equipment, such as pumping sets, to draw surface water from the Sone river under the Jal Jivan Hariyali scheme.
The cabinet approved the CM Pond Fish Farming Policy proposed by the animal and fishery resources department, which includes a 50% subsidy for general caste individuals and a 60% subsidy for others, with Rs 45 crore sanctioned for the scheme.
The Bihar Zila Parishad Land Lease Policy was approved, allowing Zila Parishads to lease land for up to five years independently, with longer leases requiring govt approval. Amendments to the panchayati raj rules now require tenders for projects valued at less than Rs 15 lakh.
Under the CM Urban Development Scheme, district-level committees will approve the construction of roads, pavements and drains before implementation, starting this financial year.
The cabinet approved the construction of a residential colony for Patna high court judges in Gardanibagh, called Judges’ Enclave, with Rs 75 crore sanctioned for 20 houses.
Other approvals included transferring 8 acres in Khankhurd Mauja, Kaimur, for an Eklavya Model Residential School, and 2 acres in Mohmari Mauja, Kishanganj, for a Seema Suraksha Bal camp, with Rs 60 lakh compensation to the education department.
Also, Rs 95 crore was sanctioned for promoting pulse cultivation under the fourth agricultural road map. The cabinet invited proposals for mining two iron ore blocks in Jamui and one limestone block in Rohtas through an auction.
