Bihar Board Announces Revised Exam Dates and Increased Scholarships for Inter and Matric Students | – Times of India

Patna: The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) on Saturday announced that the annual Intermediate exam will take place from Feb 1 to Feb 15 and the Matriculation exam from Feb 17 to Feb 25 next year.
In addition to the exam dates, BSEB chairman Anand Kishor also announced that the prize money for top rank holders in both the Intermediate and Matriculation exams would be doubled starting from 2025.
Kishor said the ‘BSEB Deshratna Dr Rajendra Prasad Medha Chhatravritti’ scholarship for toppers of classes X and XII would also see an increase. “The monthly scholarships will rise from Rs 1,200 and Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,000 and Rs 2,500, respectively. Secondary pass-outs will be awarded scholarships for two years, while higher secondary toppers will receive them for three years for normal graduation, four years for technical courses and five years for integrated five-year courses. These scholarships are available to regular students from recognised state or central govt schools. Students who take admission in any technical diploma course will continue to receive the scholarship until they complete the programme,” Kishor said.
The BSEB chairman added that the top three scorers in both the Intermediate (across science, commerce and arts streams) and Matriculation exams will now receive prize money of Rs 2 lakh, Rs 1.5 lakh and Rs 1 lakh, respectively — double the previous amounts of Rs 1 lakh, Rs 75,000 and Rs 50,000.
Students who secure positions from fourth to tenth place in Class X will receive Rs 20,000 (up from Rs 10,000) and those in the fourth and fifth positions in Class XII will be awarded Rs 30,000 instead of Rs 15,000. In addition to the doubled prize money, all these students will also continue to receive a laptop, certificate and medal.
