Patna: Poll strategist Prashant Kishor on Wednesday claimed that Bihar CM and JD(U) president Nitish Kumar’s political journey has reached its last stage and the main contest in the upcoming assembly elections in Bihar will be between his outfit, Jan Suraaj Abhiyan, and the NDA as Lalu Prasad’s RJD is not a force to reckon with right now.
Kishor has announced to formally launch his party on October 2 to coincide with the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi for which he has been holding a series of meetings with party officials at regular intervals.
Talking to a section of media, Kishor claimed that Nitish had got weakened over the years while NDA’s other smaller allies lack strength to match the power of Jan Suraaj.
“Nitish has virtually reached the last stage of his political journey and the main contest in the next assembly elections will be between the Jan Suraj and the NDA,” Kishor said on Wednesday.
Reacting sharply to Kishor’s claims, JD(U) general secretary Afaque Ahmad Khan said it was strange that the poll strategist was talking big even though his party is yet to see the light of the day. “Kishor’s statements doesn’t merit any attention. His party is yet to become a reality but he is making comments over mainstream parties like JD(U)…Pahle apna party to bana lein!” Khan said on Wednesday.
PK added that Muslims, who form the main vote bank of the RJD, are hugely disenchanted with the functioning of the party and are looking for alternatives. “Muslims have served as the kerosene to Lalu’s lantern (RJD’s poll symbol). So once the Muslims withdraw their support, RJD’s lantern will get automatically extinguished and the right time has come this,” PK claimed.
He further claimed every section of society is disappointed with the two major allies—NDA and the Grand Alliance—which have been in power for the past over 30 years.
