Bihar and West Bengal police raid late Shahabuddin’s house for son’s driver | Patna News – Times of India

Patna: A joint team of Bihar and West Bengal police conducted a search operation on the premises of former MP Md Shahabuddin’s house in Siwan district on Wednesday in connection with a recent dacoity incident in the neighbouring state.
Bengal police suspect that the driver of the late MP’s son was involved in the crime, and that he was hiding in the house at Purani Qila locality under Siwan Town police station.
At the time of the raid, Shahabuddin’s son Osama Shahab was present at the house, while widow Hina was not at home.
While hundreds of policemen arrived at the house, a large force was stationed outside the residence as well as at a nearby women police station during the raid, anticipating commotion. A large number of supporters of the former MP had gathered near the house during the raid, however, no untoward incident took place, police said.
Siwan superintendent of police (SP) Amitesh Kumar said their Raniganj counterpart in West Bengal had submitted a written request to the Town police station that some suspects from Bihar were involved in the robbery that took place in the city on June 10. “Some suspects involved in the robbery were arrested, and during interrogation, they took the name of Hasan Imam, the driver of Osama. We were told by the Raniganj police that Imam, a resident of Hathua, Gopalganj, was hiding at Osama’s residence in Purani Qila for the last four days.”
The suspect was, however, found to be absconding. “He was not found at the residence during the raid. Osama and his family members cooperated with the police during the entire process,” said the SP.
