Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation on Thursday penalised three prominent jewellery shops in Bhubaneswar for placing advertisements in public places without obtaining permission from civic authorities. The civic body collected a total amount of Rs 3.50 lakh from the three shops. One of them paid Rs 1.50 lakh, while the other two paid Rs 1 lakh each. As per govt norms and BMC’s advertisement rule, any individual or agency wishing to advertise outdoors should do so through certified empanelled advertisers only.
