Bhatti seeks bankers’ help for Rajiv Yuva Vikasam

Hyderabad: Deputy chief minister and finance minister Bhatti Vikramarka highlighted the state govt’s ambitious goal to distribute sanction letters to five lakh unemployed youth under the Rajiv Yuva Vikasam self-employment scheme by June 2, Telangana Formation Day. At a meeting on Thursday, he urged bankers to extend their cooperation to ensure the successful achievement of this target.Bhatti emphasised that having educated and skilled individuals remain unutilised is a significant loss to society. He stressed the importance of channelling their talents into productive sectors, which would, in turn, boost the state’s GDP. He further said that no other state in the country has implemented a scheme on this scale, providing financial assistance amounting to Rs 9,000 crore to five lakh youth.At the meeting, it was said the total deposits of banks grew by Rs 60,477 crore during the financial year 2024-25, reaching Rs 8,40,430 crore. According to the latest figures, total advances by banks increased by Rs 1,02,302 crore, with total advances standing at Rs 10,81,361 crore.The credit-deposit ratio remained above 100%, rising from 125.53% to 128.67% during the year 2024-25.During this period, banks disbursed short-term production loans amounting to Rs 73,105 crore, achieving 80.52% of the annual target. Investment credit for agri-allied activities totaled Rs 64,241 crore, surpassing targets at 104.87%.
