BENGALURU: A team from the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has begun inspecting the three proposed sites for Bengaluru’s second airport, as the city’s current aviation infrastructure nears capacity.
On Tuesday, the team visited two sites off Kanakapura Road. The third site, located along the Nelamangala-Kunigal Road, will be inspected on Wednesday.
The visit, from April 7 to 9, follows a Rs 1.2 crore payment made by state govt to AAI for a feasibility assessment. Each site spans over 4,500 acres, with the govt committed to providing the necessary land.
“With the 150-km airport restriction set to expire by 2033, we are accelerating the process,” said industries and infra development minister MB Patil.
