Bengaluru road rage: Biker assaulted me first, Wing Commander tells police | Bengaluru News

Bengaluru: The 40-year-old Wing Commander who allegedly assaulted a biker in east Bengaluru in the early hours of April 21 appeared before Byappanhalli police Sunday and gave his statement about the attempt-to-murder case booked against him.
When police questioned Shiladitya Bose about uploading a video on his social-media account attributing the incident to a Kannada issue, Bose told police he realised his mistake and deleted the video after it went viral. According to a senior police officer, Bose said the incident occurred because of alleged reckless riding by the biker, Vikas Kumar SJ, 26, who almost hit the Wing Commander’s car that his wife, Madhumitha Dutta, a squadron leader, was driving. Following the incident, the biker intercepted their car and started scolding him in the local language. In a fit of rage, the biker assaulted him, and in retaliation, Bose claims to have hit back.
Bose said he was upset that people who gathered at the spot backed the rider. He felt this happened because the biker was a local and spoke in Kannada. Hence, he made a couple of videos blaming the language problem. The incident took an interesting turn after the video went viral. The officer told police he wanted to make another video apologising for blaming Kannada in his statement, but he didn’t do it as he was feared it could lead to some other complications.
Except for the Kannada angle, Bose stuck to his statement made in the video about the incident. He claimed it was the biker who first assaulted him, a senior police officer said, adding that the Wing Commander approached the high court, which directed police not to take any coercive action against him.
