Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport's T2 is India’s first 5-star terminal

BENGALURU: Terminal 2 (T2) of Kempegowda International Airport has received Skytrax’s 5-star airport terminal rating, joining an elite group of terminals worldwide. KIA has also been named the best regional airport in India & South Asia.

According to Skytrax, the airport is the first in India to receive its 5-star rating.
The 5-Star Airport Rating is granted after a comprehensive audit of more than 800 passenger touchpoints across over 30 categories.
These include aspects such as terminal design, cleanliness, security, digital integration, hospitality, inclusivity, and sustainability, all aimed at delivering an outstanding and smooth travel experience, according to a press release issued by Bangalore International Airport Ltd (BIAL) on Wednesday.
Hari Marar, Managing Director and CEO of BIAL, said, “These milestones place Bengaluru on the global aviation stage, and we are deeply grateful to our passengers, partners, and employees for their trust and support.”
Edward Plaisted, CEO of Skytrax, added, “With this achievement, BLR Airport becomes the first airport in India to achieve this highest 5-Star Rating, the highest quality recognition for an airport.”
