BENGALURU: A college in Rajarajeshwari Nagar, Bengaluru, has declared a holiday for all its students on March 27, the day when Malayalam movie star Mohanlal’s much awaited movie hits the screen.
Its managing director, a die hard fan of the actor, has also booked two screens in YGR mall for exclusive screening of the movie for the students.
Good Shepherd Institutions have nursing, paramedical and degree programmes running for the past 23 years. The college has over 500 students.
“We have our graduation ceremony on March 26, presided by Goa governor, university vice chancellor amongst others. The families of the students will be present on campus. The college was anyway planning to give a holiday the next day for students after the event. That is when the students also approached us asking whether they can go for the movie the first day. We decided to make it into a celebration. Not only did we decide to call it a holiday but also booked two shows,” said the MD of the college, who did not want to be identified.
“This is how students should enjoy college life. We are like a family. Students, their family, staff and even localites will join us for the screening. I also want to believe that if we allow them to lead a college life like this, mixing fun, students will stay away from other dangerous habits like drugs,” he added.
“Above all, I am a die hard Mohanlal fan. Any Malayalee born and brought up in Kerala would relate to my feelings,” he said. Interestingly, the college’s landline phone numbers is 080-2255 2255, the phone number Mohanlal uses in his blockbuster Rajavinte Makan.
The college has booked two shows—one of 250 seats and the other 180 seats—amounting upto Rs 1.4 lakh. The college released a social media post to announce its plans.
