Bengaluru: The rowdy-sheeter who had attacked and injured five people in Indiranagar on Feb 8 is suspected to be absconding along with his father. As cops launched a manhunt for him, they found out that his father, a former rowdy-sheeter, had also gone incommunicado since the attacks.
Police commissioner B Dayananda said Tuesday four teams were on hot pursuit of Kadamba, 26, the rowdy-sheeter. “After the series of attacks [in Indiranagar], Suresh [the father] went missing along with Kadamba. We suspect they are moving together,” a police officer said. Though the family claims Suresh was out of town before the Feb 8 attacks, police believe Suresh is helping his son as he knows the consequences of committing such grievous offences.
Police suspect Kadamba and Suresh, both residents of Jogupalya in Halasuru, have been in touch with their family by making calls using mobile phones borrowed from strangers on the pretext of some emergency and through WhatsApp and other mobile apps.
A senior police officer said the family claims Kadamba had been acting abnormally since sustaining a head injury a few years ago. “But given the way he’s been keeping in touch with his family and yet leaving no trail, we are sure the head injury story is concocted,” he added.
The officer further said based on the remand applications produced in court, detailing how technology is being used to track down Kadamba, his family has probably got an inkling of the police’s modus operandi. According to records at Indiranagar police station, Kadamba’s elder brother Vishnu is also a rowdy-sheeter. The family also comprises Kadamba’s two sisters and his mother.
