BEML unveils indigenous 12x12 high mobility vehicle for defence

BENGALURU: Bengaluru-headquartered PSU BEML launched an indigenously designed and manufactured high mobility vehicle (HMV) 12×12, developed for the Vehicles Research and Development Establishment (VRDE) of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
Developed at its Palakkad complex, the PSU said the cutting-edge vehicle is engineered to enhance operational mobility for India’s defence forces while supporting the nation’s AatmaNirbhar Bharat vision.
“The HMV 12×12 boasts remarkable capabilities, designed to perform in extreme terrains and challenging climatic conditions. Key features include: BSIII-compliant engine; 7-speed Allison Automatic Transmission and Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) of 65 tonnes,” the PSU said in a statement.
BEML CMD Shantanu Roy said the launch of this vehicle exemplified BEML’s philosophy of “Beyond Possibilities”.
G Ramamohana Rao, Director, VRDE, said: “This collaboration with BEML to develop an advanced indigenous vehicle marks a significant milestone in strengthening India’s defence infrastructure.”
BEML, reiterating that the HMV 12×12 underscores its crucial role in advancing India’s defence mobility solutions, said that by leveraging in-house expertise and world-class manufacturing capabilities, the company continues to contribute to national security and readiness.
