Begusarai police recovers looted SUV in 12 hours, arrest 5 | Patna News – Times of India

Begusarai: Five people were arrested on Thursday for allegedly knocking an SUV driver out and speeding away with the vehicle in Lohia Nagar police station area of Begusarai district on Wednesday night. Police also recovered the SUV within 12 hours of the incident.
Superintendent of police (SP) Manish said that the owner of the vehicle lodged a complaint with the local police in this regard on Thursday morning, saying the GPS located the SUV in Fulwaria police station area of the district at that time.
“A team led by Begusarai Sadar-II subdivisional police officer and Fulwaria SHO sprung into action and recovered the vehicle from near Singhia chowk in Fulwaria, and arrested three people travelling in the vehicle. They were identified as Rakesh Kumar and Mohd Sarfaraz, both residents of Bihpur police station area of Bhagalpur district, besides Badal Kumar of Garhara area in Begusarai. A countrymade pistol, live cartridge and five cellphones were recovered from their possession,” he said, adding on information provided by them, Rajesh Kumar and Ashok Yadav, residents of Singhaul and Teghra police station areas respectively were arrested.
Police said that the criminals had hired the vehicle from Bhagalpur for Begusarai on Wednesday night, posing as students. “On reaching a secluded place in Lohia Nagar police station area, they asked driver Rajkamal Kumar to stop and forced him out of the vehicle. They then assaulted Rajkamal, a resident of Kahalgaon police station area in Bhagalpur, till he fell unconscious. The criminals then sped away with the vehicle. It was only after Rajkamal regained consciousness that he informed Bittu Kumar, the owner of the vehicle in Bhagalpur on Thursday morning,” said an officer.
