Bal Thackeray criticised Rajiv but ED did not harass him: Uddhav Thackeray – Times of India

MUMBAI: In a dig at the BJP, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray said on Tuesday that his father Bal Thackeray used to criticise late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi but the ED, CBI and IT never came after him.
He was speaking at an event organised by the Congress party to mark the birth anniversary of Gandhi. At the event, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said that it was because of their party workers that the advertisement on lateral entry to the bureaucracy was withdrawn.
Pointing out the importance of resistance, he said, “If the BJP had the majority, then they would have pushed this through without resistance. They would have filled the posts with RSS people.
Kharge added, “The BJP is like poison. Do not try and taste it. It needs to be thrown out.”
The event was attended by MVA leaders including Thackeray and NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar. Thackeray even accepted the Congress party’s stole at the event and joked, “I am sure these photographs will appear tomorrow.”
In a dig at the BJP and Prime Minister Modi, Thackeray said, “The Congress and Shiv Sena (undivided) opposed each other but there was never any vindictiveness.” He added, “We have come together to fight the
satta
(power) jihad of the BJP.” Thackeray also said he did not accept the Hindutva of the BJP which was unfair to other religions.
Kharge said that it was important for the India alliance to gain power in states and get MLAs elected so it could gain larger numbers in the Rajya Sabha and oppose bills and amendments which were unfair.
“The BJP pushed through amendments on farm laws and labour laws without discussion in parliament. But now since its majority is reduced, the Opposition managed to send the Wakf amendment bill to the Joint Parliamentary Committee,” Kharge pointed out.
