Awareness rally in silk city on glaucoma | Bhubaneswar News

Berhampur: Several doctors, including ophthalmologists, took out a rally in silk city on Sunday to raise awareness about eye ailments, particularly glaucoma, on the last day of the World Glaucoma Week, observed from March 9 to 16.
The rally was aimed to encourage people to undergo regular eye and optic nerve check-ups to detect glaucoma, an eye ailment which can cause blindness, said B. Nageswar Rao Subudhi, former professor in eye department, MKCG Medical College and Hospital.
“This eye disease generally affects people between 45-60 years of age and having diabetes or a family history of glaucoma,” Subudhi said.
