Awareness campaign to prevent viral diseases in Saran | Patna News – Times of India

Awareness campaign launched to keep viral diseases at bay in Saran

Chhapra: Saran district administration has initiated several measures to safeguard residents from diseases like dengue and chikungunya. Alongside awareness campaigns, efforts are underway to identify patients suffering from these viral diseases in both govt and private hospitals. The primary vector for these diseases is the Aedes aegypti mosquito.
During the awareness drives, community members are educated about the various symptoms of dengue and chikungunya, and the availability of treatment at district hospitals.Recently, a coordination committee meeting chaired by Saran DM Aman Samir focused on coordinating these efforts. The DM asked the health officials to compile patient data from hospitals and registered pathological laboratories.
Residents have been advised to prevent waterlogging near their homes, as stagnant water serves as breeding grounds for Aedes mosquitoes, which transmit these diseases through bites.
Saran civil surgeon Sagar Dulal Sinha highlighted the provision of 10 beds at Sadar Hospital, five at sub-divisional hospitals, and two at primary health centres for patients diagnosed with dengue and chikungunya. He said individuals experiencing fever should seek immediate medical attention, either by hospital admission or home isolation under strict conditions. Private hospitals and nursing homes are mandated to report all suspected and confirmed cases to the civil surgeon’s office.
