Army and Officials Discuss Flood Relief Readiness in Bihar and Jharkhand | Patna News – Times of India
Patna: Danapur army cantonment, sub area headquarters of Bihar and Jharkhand, organised a seminar at its headquarters here at the Danapur cantonment, under the chairmanship of Major General Bharat Mehtani, general officer commanding, Jharkhand and Bihar sub area, to take stock of the flood relief operation preparedness in the state.
Senior army and district administration officials on Thursday deliberated on the flood preparedness and the measures required to provide relief to the people of the state during floods, said Danapur army officials.
The discussions also focussed on the readiness and role of the state department disaster management, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Central Water Commission (CWR), Indian Railway police and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), he said. Discussion also focused on working out a comprehensive plan on how to carry out flood relief operations effectively with support from the army personnel.
Stress was also laid on the responsibilities to be fixed for relief distribution, earmarking of escorts and logistics involved in the flood relief operations jointly by all assigned agencies to make the operation more successful during flood situation in the state, a Col rank official said. The flood relief operation planning was presented through a power point presentation (PPP).
In the service of nation, Army personnel come forward and stand at the forefront every year to carry out both relief and rescue operations during floods while railways takes the responsibility to transport the required relief materials to the affected areas, sources said.
