Army Air Defence College celebrates Vijay Diwas | Bhubaneswar News
Berhampur: Army Air Defence College, Gopalpur in Ganjam district, Monday celebrated Vijay Diwas to commemorate India’s military victory over Pakistan in the 1971 war.
Several ex-servicemen and serving personnel participated in an event organised near the war memorial on the college premises. A short clip of the 1971 war was played. Among others, Maj General IS Panirath, Odisha state ex-services league’s Ganjam district president T R Behera, general secretary B. Padmanav, and several others attended.
The day was observed with a wreath-laying ceremony, a military parade, and special tributes at the war memorial.
The war lasted 13 days, ending with the surrender of Pakistan and the liberation of Bangladesh. They said, “Vijay Diwas serves as a reminder of the bravery, sacrifice, and strategic excellence of the Indian Army Forces,” said Behera.
On the occasion, a conference was also held in which various issues of the ex-servicemen, including pension, were discussed, said Padmanav.
