Armed Robbers Loot ₹28 Lakh from Private Bank in Sheikhpura | Patna News – Times of India

Patna: In a daylight robbery, four armed men entered a private bank, locked up the employees and customers in a room and fled with Rs 28 lakh cash in Sheikhpura district on Monday.
According to the police, one of the criminals first entered the bank in Barbigha area posing as a customer, before his accomplices barged in and carried out the robbery in just 10-15 minutes. They fled before the arrival of the police.
Sheikhpura SP Baliram Kumar Choudhary said the entire robbery was captured in the bank’s CCTV cameras. “The bank opened at 10am. In the CCTV footage, a young man, wearing a cap and carrying a bag, is seen entering the bank around 10.20am. After surveying the branch, he is seen speaking over phone. He sat on a sofa, continued talking on the phone, likely informing his accomplices outside about the bank’s layout and staff activities. Unaware of the impending danger, bank employees continued with their work.”
Shortly after, his accomplices, wearing helmets, entered the bank. “The first man to arrive at the bank pointed a gun at the banker sitting at the counter. Two robbers then worked together to lock the employees and customers in a room. They then forced branch manager Abhishek Kumar to open the vault at gunpoint and ran away with approximately Rs 28 lakh in cash,” Choudhary said.
“The criminals have been identified. The forensic team has collected all the evidence from the scene,” the SP said, adding they are also probing the possible involvement of bank employees. “Their backgrounds are being checked. We are hopeful of solving the case soon,” the SP said.
Last year, a similar daylight robbery took place at a gold loan bank in the same area in Sheikhpura district. The criminals had robbed the bank of 6 kg gold and Rs 2 lakh cash.
