Vasai: Bolinj police in Virar have arrested a Pune man for allegedly defrauding two people of Rs 12 lakh under the pretext of starting an animal birth control (ABC) centre. The accused was arrested from Pune last Saturday and remanded in five days of police custody with Bolinj cops. More FIRs are filed against the accused, Harshvardhan Chaudhary, at Ghatkopar’s Parksite and Khar police stations as well.
Bolinj residents said they met the accused in 2023, who said an investor who was willing to shell out Rs 45 lakh to start an ABC centre, had backed out. They then transferred money into his mother’s account. Later they learned he had bought a car and refused to return their money and threatened them.
