Patna: Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday said that Nalanda University was famous as the centre of knowledge and had 10,000 students and 2,000 teachers during its glorious days. Addressing a gathering after PM Modi inaugurated the new campus, Nitish said people from China, Japan, Sri Lanka, Tibet, and many other countries from Asia used to study in the ancient varsity, reports Madan Kumar.
The CM also said that the villages spread within a radius of 20-25 kilometres, used to be linked to the ancient university.Earlier, Modi visited the ruins of ‘Nalanda Mahavihara’, a UNESCO world heritage site, in Nalanda district.
