Prayagraj: Amid the rising Covid cases in India, Swaroop Rani Nehru (SRN) Hospital has ramped up preparations to tackle any possible outbreak. Although official instructions from the state or central govts are still awaited, the hospital administration is leaving no stone unturned in ensuring readiness to deal with any outbreak.India has recorded a resurgence in Covid cases, attributed to new subvariants like OF.7 and NB.1.8, triggering alerts in several states. While the situation in Uttar Pradesh remains stable for now, the state govt has urged all major hospitals to remain on alert and reinforce infrastructure and preparedness protocols.“SRN Hospital, one of the region’s most critical tertiary care centres, has already designated a dedicated Covid ward and reactivated its internal response mechanism. Medical teams were instructed to review protocols, and oxygen supply lines, emergency ventilation systems, and isolation facilities are being tested and verified for functionality,” said media incharge and associate professor Dr Santosh Kumar Singh.Singh further said the hospital has also ensured that the TrueNat testing machine, an important tool for rapid and accurate Covid detection, is fully functional and ready for immediate use. Stockpiles of essential drugs, personal protective equipment (PPE), and oxygen cylinders were reviewed and replenished. Mock drills were recently conducted to assess preparedness, especially focusing on emergency response time, staff deployment, and patient flow management.Furthermore, coordination meetings were held with the district health authorities to align response strategies and maintain real-time data sharing. Special emphasis is being given to the early identification of symptomatic patients, isolation protocols, and the availability of critical care support if needed. While no formal advisory has been issued for public, doctors are encouraging citizens to resume wearing masks in crowded areas, maintain hand hygiene, and report symptoms such as fever, cough, or breathing difficulty without delay. The hospital also plans to reintroduce public awareness campaigns through posters and social media messages in the coming days, he said.
