Aluminium manufacture unit raided | Chennai News – The Times of India

Chennai: Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) officials raided the premises of an aluminium alloy ingot manufacturer at Sipcot industrial park, Vallam Vadagal, Sriperumbudur, on March 18 for operating without the BIS standard mark.
The raid, conducted under Section 28 of the BIS Act, 2016, following reports of violations of the Aluminium and Aluminium Alloys (Quality Control) Order, 2023.
According to this order, manufacturing or selling aluminium alloy ingots without an ISI mark and valid licence is prohibited. The firm was found in violation of Section 17 of the BIS Act.
Chennai branch head G. Bhavani said action would be taken, with penalties including imprisonment up to two years or fines extending up to 10 times the value of goods. BIS has urged the public to report misuse of ISI marks via the BIS Care app or email.
