Patna: All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Patna (AIIMS Patna) on Saturday inaugurated its state-of-the-art antenatal diagnostic facility for rare diseases.
As per the statement issued by the hospital administration, department of radiodiagnosis has been certified to perform fetal intervention procedures including amniocentesis, chorionic villus biopsy, fetoscopy, fetal skin or organ biopsy, or any specified procedure.“The newly established facility is set to provide cutting-edge diagnostic services, especially targeting rare genetic and congenital conditions that affect expectant families,” said the statement.
It further stated that the initiative will help in early detection and management of rare diseases, enabling timely intervention and informed decision-making for expectant parents.
The facility is equipped with the latest diagnostic tools and technology, including advanced genetic testing, high-resolution imaging, and comprehensive counselling services. The multidisciplinary team at the centre includes paediatricians, geneticists, obstetricians, radiologists, and counsellors dedicated to providing personalized care and support to families navigating the complexities of rare diseases.
The inauguration ceremony was held in the presence of executive director and CEO, Dr Gopal Krushna Pal.
Dr Prem Kumar, dean academics, Dr Anup Kumar, medical superintendent, Dr Tribhuvan Kumar, and Dr Pratap Kumar Patra, member secretary for rare diseases; Dr Ajit Kumar Saxena, Dr Monika Anant, Dr Binod Kumar Pati, Dr Meenakshi Tiwari, Dr Bandan Kumari, Dr Surbhi, Dr Ananad Rai, Dr Sanjeev Kumar, who are the members of the rare disease committee AIIMS Patna, were also present on this occasion.
